Projects and models are an effective teaching tool. The models are used as demonstrative tools to explain a particular concept. Once the child explains his / her own project, it is easier for the child to internalize the concept as leaning by doing is the best way to learn.

Role plays are an effective method of getting the message across. In most play exercises, each student take a role of a person affected by the issue.
